Alumni Charity Challenge – Wednesday, September 20 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. @ Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
This is 5th annual Alumni Charity Challenge and VCU is doing more than a little smack talking (see t-shirt above). Mason Alumni embarrassed VCU alumni in 2013 and 2014 on their own turf in Richmond (RVA) by donating nearly twice as much food as all other local alumni chapters combined. This year VCU alumni want break the 2-2 tie with George Mason and claim the “BEST TEAM” trophy for the 3rd year in a row. Obviously Mason alumn cannot let that happen.
Help Mason this year by bringing non-perishable donations to Hardywood Brewing from 5:30-8:30pm. The good news is that for the first time if you cannot bring food to the event, you can donate online until 11:59pm September 20 and help Mason Alumni in Richmond BEAT VCU! Even our alumni friends in NOVA and beyond can help out!
And while you in the giving mood, take a few minutes to visit Give Mason page and make your annual donation of $25 or more (great habit to get into like changing your batteries in your fire detectors when we change our clocks an hour to spring forward or fall back).
And you do not have to register to attend the event, but we would love to know you are coming!
Looking forward to seeing you on September 20th and with your help, lets BEAT VCU! (and the Hokies, Wahoos, Dukes, Tribe, etc.)
With Patriot Pride,
Never too late to decide to attend! This event is a great event and opportunity to meet fellow alumni and students from RVA, as well as, to pick up a free MasonRVA t-shirt .
New students, families, and alumni are invited to a summer send-off in Richmond on Thursday, Aug. 3 at Bottoms Up Pizza. This casual get together is a great opportunity to meet and get to know incoming Patriots, parents, and alumni from your region!
Attendees will enjoy dinner, refreshments, and remarks provided by the George Mason University Alumni Association. Please pre-register and indicate your commitment to attend, which will help us plan for food.
Free street parking is available and there are two nearby pay-to-park lots (less than a block away).
The Main Street Train Station lot is free for the first hour, and $1 per additional hour (with a $5 max). This is located between Main and Cary across the street from the train station. There is another paid lot across Cary Street (between Dock and Cary) from the Main Street Station Lot.
Upcoming MasonRVA events…
|Alumni Charity Challenge|
|Thu, Sep 14, 2017 5-8:30pm||Hardywood Park Craft Brewery|
|MasonRVA won the challenge the first two years. This is the 5th annual event so there is time for Mason to reclaim bragging rights! Stay tuned for more information. The rules have changed this year!|
Please join us for pregame gathering with other Mason fans at Isley Brewing Company starting at noon. Isley Brewing Company is located at 1715 Summit Ave, Richmond 23230. MasonRVA will provide pizza, soda, and water. If you don’t want to eat pizza, you can purchase some BBQ from the Jus Cukn food truck. Checkout Isley’s website to see what will be on tap.
And after Mason beats VCU, join us just a few blocks away from Isley’s at Ardent Craft Ale’s Beer Garden to celebrate!
There should be plenty of street parking around the brewery so you can plan to either walk (~1.5 mi) or Uber to the game if you do not want to deal w/ traffic and/or parking near the Siegel Center.
In the future when Mason plays VCU or UofR on a Saturday evening in Richmond, MasonRVA will host a brewery tour of RVA breweries for Mason Alumni. This year the game is at 2pm, so the best we can do is introduce you all to 1 or 2 of our 20+ local breweries.
Hope to see you Saturday and Go Mason!
Mason RVA MBB Fans, the Mason @ Davidson game is on our local broadcast network WRLH-DT2 (fios 10, comcast 209) tonight at 7pm. WRLH-DT2 does not require cable so no excuse not to watch (assuming you have a digital antenna and know how to use it – if not, it is streaming on the internet as well – http://www.atlantic10.com)
Once again, MasonRVA is participating in the Annual Alumni Charity Challenge and we need your help! We won this challenge the first 2 years and want to reclaim the trophy on Wednesday, Sept. 14. We will be collecting canned goods to benefit needy families in the Richmond area at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery from 5 – 8:30 p.m. All donations will benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank.
